Extractions
At Murphy Family Dental our doctors perform extractions for a variety of reasons.
Sometimes a tooth cannot be restored due to infection, decay or severe breakage. Sometimes in cooperation with a patient’s orthodontist we remove selected teeth as part of an orthodontic treatment plan. Frequently we remove third molars (wisdom teeth) if they are crowding the patient’s other teeth or have become inflamed or painful.
Digital x-rays help us determine which extractions are suitable for a general dentist and which should be referred to a specialist. We offer nitrous oxide and anxiety medication in the office for patients who request it; if the patient wants conscious sedation, we send them to a specialist who is licensed to provide that type of anesthesia.
Our doctors and assistants take special care to proceed slowly, to respond to your questions and feedback, and to explain everything as they go along. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how well the procedure goes.
